The dust has settled from Derby Day, and what great day of punting day it was! Even better if you were on track. Tipping however, was a bit tougher, especially those who were chasing value – 22 tipsters wiped out completely, whilst only 7 made it into profit.

But there was one tipster who stood head and shoulders above the rest, and that was Billy Macca who went five from five! Billy had $100 on each of the five winners to score $1131 for the round: TENTYRIS ($3.48 BSP) in the Coolmore, OBSERVER ($3.10 BSP) in the Derby, PRIDE OF JENNI ($5.23 BSP) in the Empire Rose, JIMMYSTAR ($2.74 BSP) in the Russell Balding and AUTUMN GLOW ($1.76 BSP) in the Golden Eagle. Rusty was second on $675.40 with three winners and Dogbet third on $653, which included a shrewd $100 place bet on DEAL DONE FAST ($8.05 BSP Place) in the Derby. Billy also takes the clubhouse lead in the Cup Week Hero Award with still 8 races to go.

The overall leaderboard has seen some big changes after a few wipeouts! The ever-consistent Cat has extended his lead to almost $1000. He sits atop on $2151.20, from Law on $1242 who took a big hit this week. Dogbet has jumped out to third on $537 and Billy Macca in fourth on $403 after his solid round. Interestingly the top 10 are the only tipsters in the positive:

Josh1528, The Cat and Wardy still lead the Captain Consistency Award, with a large pack chasing behind.

Just a note that I will pay out all prize money, including round winners, at the conclusion of the comp.

Soft Rock Poll Results

The poll caused some good debate, not all positive, but I have quite enjoyed putting the playlist together with Nato. Toto – Africa ended up on top, but I could’ve voted for any in the list provided. Other suggested songs included Marvin Gaye – Sexual Healing, Kim Carnes – Bette Davis Eyes, Roxette – Listen To Your Heart, Take on Me – Ah Ha, Bon Jovi – Living on prayer (not really soft rock though). Apparently, we also missed the best Toto and Hall and Oates songs.
