It was a week for the favourites with no horses winning over $5, which has made the task even harder for the back markers, like myself. The final Cox Plate was a tremendous battle with the champion VIA SISTINA, somehow holding off BUCKAROO, who surely just had to win that. Meanwhile the special Golan juice had certainly worn off for ANTINO – now 1 from 11 south of the border.
The weekly affair was a very close encounter with only $31 separating the top four and just $2 between first and second! It was Brockylogan who prevailed on $530 with an outrageous $100 place bet on INFLICTOR ($7.20 BSP place) in the Five Diamonds Prelude and $100 on OHOPE ($3.10 BSP) in the Callander-Presnell. So that meant Chriso was just pipped on $528 after $100 on VIA SISTINA ($2.54 BSP) in the Cox Plate, $100 on OHOPE and $100 on STEFI MAGNETICA ($4.64 BSP) in the Invitation. The birthday boy Buzzman (happy 50th 🥳🎂btw) took third on $515 with $100 on ATTICA ($4.80 BSP) in the Spring Champion Stakes, $100 on OHOPE and $100 on TRANSATLANTIC ($2.25 BSP) in the Five Diamonds Prelude.
Looking at the Overall Leaderboard, the Cat and Law both scored the same ($290) as their enthralling duel continued. The Cat certainly bolstered his claims of the second-best blogger in racing, after capturing the moments of the last Friday night under the Valley lights and then the early morning blurry lights of the Crown! Hate to think how much that Uber trip cost home to Geelong and hate to see the reception he received from his next of kin. The Cat leads on $2165.20 from Law on $1742.00 and Benny Lead on $808.80. Brock has moved up to 4th on $794, with Wardy rounding out the top 5 on $783.
