An elongated Round 8 came to a gripping conclusion Saturday afternoon as two of the biggest races on the Ken Calendar were run a won. The day was made all the sweeter as most of us had an absolute fill up on the punt, unless you were an Irishman. Punting aside, winning tips were a little harder to come by with three winners all in the market (Art Cadeau $3.70, Nature Strip $3.30 and Incentivise $2.50). In contrast Wednesday’s winner of the Thousand Guineas, Yearning, paid $28.50 and proved to be the difference in the weekly award.
Damo, who had $50ew on Yearning, takes home the Round winning prize of $50. Despite not picking another winner for the week, he held on with $1025.
Chriso had a solid week in second ($820) getting a return in 3 of 4 races – $25 Yearning, $75 Nature Strip and also picked the quin in the Caulfield Cup with $50 Incentivise and $50 place Nonconformist ($2.70).
Hobbo also had a busy weekend with a total return of $550 – $100 Incentivise, $100 Art Cadeau and $100 Nature Strip – would’ve made a nice multi!!
Overall Benny Leal, who scored an important $21, stays on top of the leaderboard with $1739.50. Damo is up to second with $1195 and Rish in 3rd on $1080. Check full leaderboard here.
